I’ve been drawn to read a number of novels and books with a base theme of magic. The most recent is “The Discovery of Witches”. It is a well crafted novel that mixes a love story mixed with alchemy and history. Another is a series known as the “Dresdin Files”. Both have an underlying them of magic and the experience thereof.
There are a number of interesting thoughts posed about how magic works. One experiences magic though intention they write. One must expect miracles at a core level before it manifests. As a performer of the magical arts I have seen this happen time after time. A few years back I noticed that if the magic wasn’t flowing during a performance I could stop, move to a quiet place and reset my intention to have the guests experience moments of magic. Upon returning to the performance, miracles would once again flow.
A second premise noted in both books revolved around the importance of magic in human life. In the Discovery of Witches a quote from Einstein summed up this thought:
“The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead”
Einstein’s quote reminded me why magic is both wonderful and important. It reminds us how powerful we are and opens the mind to thoughts of greatness. No wonder it is a brilliant form of entertainment at corporate events, business functions and weddings… it reminds us to be more than we ever thought we could be, to explore our potential and move past the limits that life and experience have bound us.
May wonder and mystery excite your life,
